Aims of the Sherpha “Business Idea Generation and Validation” workshop

  • Arm participants with tools required to take their new idea through various investigative stages of research, right through to commercialising their idea.
  • The workshop will include guidelines on prototype development, protection of intellectual property and market research.
  • This workshop not only shows you what ideas are good ideas but also introduces you to the concepts of thinking laterally, creating new ideas and will help you to develop your business ideas and point you in the right direction for starting up a new business.

  • 14 hours of instructed training, 3 hours of self-learning and 3 hours practical.
  • This is a Basecamp/ Kick Start programme designed to equip and support participants through the process of starting a business. The programme isn’t learning about business, it’s learning to DO business! Some participants will already have a business idea and others will not, that’s ok, the programme helps to develop and refine ideas until they are viable.
  • It will help participants build their ideas, their confidence, their skills, their knowledge and their business and support network. It will provide the knowledge, skills and experience across the full breath of small business areas to ensure participants are prepared to start a business. It will include the development and testing of business ideas right through to the stage where the business is ready to register. Once started in business the programme aims to continue supporting and guiding participants to help them to tackle the initial challenges, barriers and risks encountered by most start-ups. This programme involving classroom, online, self-directed study and real-world learning. There will be specialist guest speakers and expert trainers who will each be available to provide one-to-one sessions post programme in their specialist areas as part of their interaction with participants. There will be previous participant presenters who will tell their personal stories of starting their own business.

Aims of the Sherpha “Basecamp” Programme

  • To introduce participants to entrepreneurship and self-employment.
  • To assist participants in assessing their idea, its viability and to decide if they should proceed or take a step back.
  • Give individuals expertise in making the right decisions, planning and organising effectively.
  • Understand the processes involved in starting, operating and evaluating a business.
  • Appreciate how a range of internal and external factors can influence the development of a business.
  • Understand the importance of good planning, organisation, implementation and evaluation skills.
  • Explore the realities of running a business showing an understanding of basic business fundamentals.
  • Understand the standard framework and underlying principles of formatting a business plan.
  • Develop a feasibility / basic business plan process combining marketing, financial and management tactics.
  • Appreciate the critical importance of market validation to produce a sales action plan.
  • Understand the forms of business organisation, the advantages and disadvantages of each.
  • Have an overview of financial structure, requirements and strategy in a small business.
  • Introduction to the fundamentals of taxation.
  • How to register to be compliant with regulations, taxation and legal framework.

  • 28 hours of instructed training, 6 hours of self-learning and 6 hours practical.
  • This is an “Ascent” program designed to equip and support participants through the process of starting a business. The program isn’t learning about business, it’s learning to DO business! Some participants will already have a business idea and others will not, that’s ok, the program helps to develop and refine ideas until they are viable, sustainable and scalable.
  • It will help participants build on their ideas, confidence, skills, knowledge and business support network. The program aims to continue supporting and guiding participants to help them to tackle the initial challenges, barriers and risks encountered by most start-ups. This program involving classroom, online, self-directed study and real-world learning. There will be specialist guest speakers and expert trainers in their specialist areas as part of their interaction with participants. There will be previous participant presenters who will tell their personal stories of starting their own business.
  • Modelled on similar programs at Advancia in Paris and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • The priority is to equip participants with knowledge and skills which they can implement into their new businesses.

  • Allow those attending to build upon the full spectrum of topics which they must be aware of as they develop their business idea with a view to setting up their own business.
  • Develop appropriate knowledge and skills for starting a business.
    Understand the processes involved in starting, operating and evaluating a business.
  • Appreciate how a range of internal and external factors can influence the development of a business.
  • Appreciate the importance of good planning, organisation, implementation and evaluation skills.
  • To deliver a practical, informative, training program that will empower participants to understand the fundamentals in starting their own businesses and also to demonstrate how to prepare and implement a business plan.

  • This is a three (3) day weekend residential Friday 12.00 to Sunday 15.00 with 24 hours of self-learning and 24 hours practical.
  • Some of the most famous thinkers in history, Albert Einstein, Winston Churchill, and John F. Kennedy, have been visual thinkers. Leonardo da Vinci, considered by many to be the greatest thinker of all time, started every meaningful brainstorm with a visual. You can create what you want in your life. Visual thinking will help you get to where you want to go even faster.
  • The answer we provide is the unique Sherpha Mapping tool as a critical visual learning outcome. This learning tool will be provided for each participant as a finished map to guide / help them to grow, develop their business and provide the capability to win the IBYE National Title for 2019. The map is 820 cm x 600 cm.
  • The priority is to equip participants with knowledge and skills which they can implement into their businesses.

Aims of the Sherpha “Summit” Programme

  • Participants will discover ways to accelerate their business to market, engage customers, and grow revenue through the development of a business model, plan and action plan.
  • Assess their entrepreneurial traits and identify their strengths and weaknesses.
    Understand how to identify and assess their target market.

  • This is a one-day program involves 7 hours instructed training, with 3 hours of self-learning and 3 hours practical.
  • An investor’s job is to find businesses that offer the highest return on investment with the least risk. Your job is to convince them that your business offers a greater return, with less risk, than all the other businesses they are looking at.
  • Presenting a product, service or idea can be a daunting experience for a start-up or SME, so we have provided you with general tips here that should help you when preparing for a pitch.
  • A presentation is your chance to make a great first impression and generate interest in your business. It should be a short presentation that can be delivered in 60 seconds to 10 minutes the rules are the same. Capturing someone’s attention in such a short span of time is quite a challenge.
  • In a face-to-face encounter, 7 percent of a verbal message comes from the words used; 38 percent comes from the vocal tone, pacing, and inflection; and 55 percent of the message is transmitted by the speaker’s appearance and body language.
  • People can form an impression in just 50 milliseconds or 1/20 of a second. Clearly this is a subjective, emotional rather than rational judgement. In the first seven seconds of contact, a person forms 11 impressions about you and our organisation. And then according to this study the rest of your time is spent finding evidence to prove your original impression of that person, whether that impression is true or not. Aims of the Sherpha “Pitch Perfect” Programme

  • This practical one-day presentation skills course will improve participants’ public speaking skills and knowledge. The training includes effective presentation techniques to enable delegates to present professionally and confidently, as well as engage well with the audience.
  • In addition, participants will have the opportunity to make three short presentations and will receive feedback on their current presentation style, as well as ideas to enhance their delivery.
  • The program will inspire people to foster personal interaction and to understand its value, gain the ability to tell stories as opposed to deliver facts, win over their audience and win the business.
